Hermann Holzrichter (born November 13, 1910 in Hohenlimburg ; † April 21, 1978 ) was a chemist, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG and a member of the Supervisory Board .

Life

After graduating from high school in February 1930, Holzrichter studied chemistry at the universities of Freiburg and Kiel until 1936 . He completed his studies in Kiel with excellent grades. Hermann Holzrichter received his doctorate in June 1936 under the later Nobel Prize winner Kurt Alder . His doctoral examination was rated “very good”. From November 1936 to July 1937 he was an assistant at Liebig in Bonn.

On August 1, 1937, he joined IG Farben at the Leverkusen plant - today's Bayer plant - as a chemist  . Holzrichter was initially occupied with Buna development tasks, which he solved very successfully. In the course of time, the facilities of several companies were subordinated to him. On October 21, 1941, he became deputy head of the Bayer AG department, on May 2, 1944, head of the department, on May 1, 1952, power of attorney and on July 1, 1957, a member of the Board of Management. In May 1967, Spiegel magazine published an article about a plastic car that Paul G. Hahnemann , then sales director at BMW , wanted to build together with Hermann Holzrichter.

1965–1978 he was a member of the supervisory board of Linde AG , of which 1968–1973 deputy chairman and 1973–1978 chairman of the supervisory board.

He retired on January 1, 1974. After a short, serious illness, he died at the age of 67 and was buried in his home town of Hohenlimburg.

Awards

On the occasion of the international rubber conference in Berlin, he was awarded the Carl Dietrich Harries plaque in recognition of his services to the development of the large-scale production of synthetic rubber.
