Hermann König (mathematician, 1892)

Hermann König (born October 25, 1892 in Berlin , † November 8, 1978 in Hitzacker ) was a German mathematician .

Life

Born in Berlin, Hermann king, scion of a family of scholars, son of a County Court Council , turned to the High School to the study of mathematics at the Georg-August-University of Goettingen to which he with the promotion of Dr. phil. completed. Hermann king received after a position as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Faculty in Göttingen, 1920 habilitated himself as a lecturer for applied mathematics . In 1922 he accepted a call as a full professor of mathematics at the Clausthal Bergakademie (since 1968 Clausthal University of Technology). At the same time he was appointed director of the Institute for Mathematics and Mechanics. Hermann König, who held the rector's office from 1929 to 1931 , retired in 1961 .

Hermann König, a proven expert in numerical computing , who was elected a member of the German Aerospace Society in 1948 , is considered to be the founder of the theory of ski flying .
