Hermann Kletzmayr (born March 9, 1897 in Garsten ; † July 10, 1971 in Linz ) was an Upper Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and civil servant. From 1949 to 1961 he was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament and from 1954 to 1961 a regional councilor for trade, elections and asset protection in the Upper Austrian state government .

education and profession

Kletzmayr attended elementary school in Steyr and continued his education at the Kollegium Petrinum in Linz and at the State High School in Ried im Innkreis . He enlisted voluntarily in 1915 for use in the First World War and laid in 1916 during his leave from the front, the war Matura from. During the war he was deployed with the Upper Austrian riflemen and the 14th Infantry Regiment and, after being wounded several times, disarmed as a lieutenant at the end of the war. In 1939 he was drafted as a reserve officer for service in the Wehrmacht , where he fought in Poland, France and the Soviet Union. At the end of 1945 he returned from captivity with the rank of captain.

After the Second World War, he was State Secretary of the Austrian Economic Association from 1945 to 1962. Furthermore, he acted from 1948 to 1959 as director of the master health insurance fund for handicrafts for Upper Austria in Linz and between 1954 and 1961 was president of the Upper Austria tourist association. In addition, from April 1957, he was a member of the supervisory board of the Kohlenimport- und GroßhandelsgmbH in Salzburg.

Politics and functions

Kletzmayer was active as a city councilor in Steyr before the Second World War. In 1945 he was a co-founder of the Austrian Economic Association of the ÖVP and from 1945 to 1948 a member of the Linz City Council. On November 5, 1949, he was sworn in as a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament and on October 19, 1954, after Franz Breitwieser's resignation, he also took over the office of regional councilor in the Upper Austrian state government, with the departments of trades, elections and asset protection being subordinate to him. He exercised his office as regional councilor and his parliamentary mandate until November 16, 1961.

Private

Kletzmayr was born as the son of Hermann Kletzmayr and Franziska, née Fürthaler, who later became members of the National Council . He was married to Katharina Donke from 1921 and was the father of three children, one of whom was killed in World War II.
