Hermann Koch (politician, 1899)

Hermann Koch (born December 29, 1899 in Harriehausen , † February 10, 1984 in Braunschweig ) was a German furniture manufacturer and CDU politician .

Life

After attending school, Koch, who was of Protestant faith, completed a commercial apprenticeship in the textile trade, which he completed a practical apprenticeship as an upholsterer. He was a soldier in the First World War . In 1923 he took over the craft business founded by his grandfather and moved it to Braunschweig a year later. The factory building on Magnitorwall ("Handelshof"), which was used by Hermann Koch GmbH & Co. KG until 1979 , is still there today. He expanded the business into a factory for upholstered furniture and mattresses. In the Second World War he served again as a soldier.

Koch also founded an upholstery fabric wholesaler in 1948 and took over another business in Wolfsburg in 1957 . The company exists today under the name of Diamona Hermann Koch Factory for Living and Sleeping Comfort GmbH & Co. KG in Wolfsburg.

Political party

In 1945 Koch took part in the founding of the CDU in Braunschweig, of which he was temporarily chairman.

MP

From 1952 to 1957 Koch was councilor in Braunschweig. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1961. He represented the constituency of the city of Braunschweig there .
