Hermann Kohlmetz (born August 31, 1865 in Berlin ; † 1913 ) was a German actor, theater director and author.

Life

Hermann Kohlmetz graduated from the Kölln high school in Berlin . Then he went to the theater. After several years of traveling with changing engagements, he played at the city theaters in Strasbourg , Wroclaw , Düsseldorf , Riga and Bremen, among others . He has made guest appearances in the United States , Russia , Belgium and the Netherlands and the Orient. He also took over the direction and adapted pieces according to needs. As a result of this dramaturgical activity, my own pieces were created. In the last years of his life he wrote several historical stories, some of them in the series of novels under the German flag, which was banned as trash in the Kingdom of Bavaria . In 1909 he wrote the robinsonade Der Negerfürst based on the true story from the Hessian village of Kehrenbach , presumably using a book by Jakob Hoffmeister in which the story was already told. Most recently he lived in Dresden as head director, dramaturge and writer .
