Hermann Krist (born July 21, 1959 in Ansfelden ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From December 2002 to October 2019 he was a member of the National Council .

education and profession

Krist attended elementary school between 1965 and 1969 and then secondary school until 1973. After completing the polytechnic course in 1974, Krist learned the trade of machine fitter until 1979 . He did military service in 1979 and then worked as a machine fitter from 1978 to 1989. From 1989 to 2004 he was then released chairman of the workers' works council at Carrera Optyl. Krist attended the social academy of the Chamber for Workers and Employees from 1994 to 1995 and was employed by the Association for the Promotion of Work and Employment (FAB) from 2005 to 2007.

politics

Hermann Krist was a member of the Pucking Municipal Council from 1991 to 2009 and has been again since June 2013, and from 1997 to 2009 Vice Mayor. From 1991 to 2009 he was also the local party chairman of the SPÖ and was elected to the district committee of the SPÖ Linz / Land in 1998. Krist has been the SPÖ district chairman of Linz Land since 2002, as well as a member of the state party presidium of the SPÖ Upper Austria and a member of the state party executive. In 2002 Krist was also elected to the federal party control of the SPÖ. Since 2006 he has been deputy state party chairman and state party cashier. From May 2013 he will also be the state treasurer of the Upper Austrian association of municipal representatives.

In his role as a trade unionist Krist was works council at Carrera Optyl in Traun / Upper Austria from 1989 to 2004, between 2000 and 2005 chairman of the district management of the metal-textile union (GMT), regional chairman of the GMT Upper Austria and a member of the central board of GMT.

Hermann Krist has been a member of the National Council since December 20, 2002, from 2006 chairman of the committee for sports affairs and from 2008 sports spokesman and South Tyrol spokesman for the SPÖ parliamentary group. After the National Council election in 2019 , he resigned from the National Council.

In January 2014 he was elected President of the Working Group for Sport and Physical Culture in Austria (ASKÖ). In January 2020, Sabine Naderer-Jelinek was nominated by the board as successor to Hermann Krist for the district chairmanship. Krist is supposed to switch to the private foundation L36 and work there for Gutenberg-Druckerei and Werbering.
