Hermann Lehr

Hermann Lehr (* 1943 or 1944 in Vienna ; † August 27, 2018 ) was an Austrian ballet dancer and actor . From 1968 he was a member of the ensemble at the Vienna Volksoper , where he was seen in more than 3000 performances.

Life

Hermann Lehr studied dance at the later University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . He had his first engagements at the Chamber Opera , the Vienna Burgtheater and at the Salzburg Festival . Tours have taken him to the USA, Europe and Japan, among others. In October 1968 he was engaged as a ballet dancer at the Vienna Volksoper, where he was a member of the ensemble until his death and was on stage in over 3000 performances.

He had roles as an actor there, among other things as dance master in the regiment daughter, as Lillas Pastia in Carmen , as Diesel and Gladhand and in the West Side Story , as Calvin in Guys and Dolls , as mute in The Abduction from the Seraglio , as Lord Barrymore in Giuditta and as a lieutenant in The Land of Smiles . Most recently in the 2017/18 season he appeared on stage in My Fair Lady as Butler James and in The Sound of Music as Baron Elberfeld.

Hermann Lehr died in August 2018 at the age of 75. He was married to Brigitte Lehr, who built up the children's and youth choir of the Vienna Volksoper from 2005 and has been leading it ever since.
