Hermann Linde (Manager)

Hermann Linde (born November 12, 1917 in Munich ; † August 31, 2015 ) was a German physicist and manager .

Life

Hermann Linde was the fourth of five sons of the engineer Richard Linde (1879–1961) and his wife Julie Linde, née Hingkeldey (1887–1982). Carl von Linde was his grandfather.

At the Theresien-Gymnasium Munich , which he had attended since 1928, Linde graduated from high school in 1937. After serving in the Reich Labor Service and then doing military service, he was seriously wounded as a soldier in France in 1940 and discharged from the Wehrmacht in 1941 . In the same year he began studying physics at the Technical University of Munich , which he graduated in 1945. In 1948 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the freezing of vapors from gas-steam mixtures at atmospheric pressure.

Hermann Linde began his professional career in January 1949 in the family-owned company, where he received power of attorney in 1957. After becoming a deputy board member in 1961, he became a full board member in 1965. From 1973 to 1976 he was spokesman for the Linde AG Board of Management . After retiring from company offices, Linde was a lecturer at the Technical University of Munich from 1977 to 1983. Linde held numerous honorary positions: Chairman of the German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association (DKV), Chairman of the Board of TÜV Bayern , Member of the Board of DECHEMA , 1979 to 1985 Chairman of the VDI District Association in Munich, Upper and Lower Bavaria, 1982 to 1986 Chairman of the regional advisory board and deputy president of the VDI.

Linde died just 24 days after his wife Anneliese, with whom he was married for over 70 years.
