Hermann Moers

Hermann Moers (born January 31, 1930 in Cologne ) is a German writer .

Life

Hermann Moers completed a commercial apprenticeship at the Ford factory in Cologne , where he then worked as an employee . He passed an interpreting exam for English and made up his high school diploma on the second educational path . Since the mid-1950s, he went public with literary works. Moers, who has been a freelance writer since 1984 , now lives in Geiselhöring, Bavaria , after stays in the Eifel and in Berlin .

Hermann Moers is a writer of novels , short stories and plays ; in the 1960s and 1970s the focus of his work was on radio plays , later on children's books . In 1958 Moers received the Literature Promotion Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia , the Gerhart Hauptmann Prize in 1960 and the Karl Sczuka Prize in 1963 .
