Hermann Planck (* 1869 ; † 1913 in Schwenningen ) was a German district notary and socialist publicist . He was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) .

Life

Planck was the second youngest child in his family. His father, pastor , most recently in Fluorn , died when Planck was not yet two years old, after which his family moved to Nürtingen . In 1882 he passed the state examination. After a year in Schöntal , however, he turned away from theology due to illness . In the mid-1880s he completed an apprenticeship at the Wandel notary in Nürtingen. Shortly after the turn of the century, Planck came to Stuttgart , where he worked on a book on "keeping the land register", which is still used today. In 1906 he married Paula Mohr .

Planck died in Schwenningen in 1913. At his request, his family moved back to Nürtingen.

Political career

In Nürtingen he had started to do social and philosophical studies and to write correspondence for the social democratic Swabian Tagwacht . These led him together with his cousin, Theodor August Lutz from Baden-Baden, known as the "Red Pharmacist" . Unlike him, however, as a civil servant, Planck was not able to openly profess socialism. Nevertheless, he supported the SPD wherever he could.
