Hermann Priebe (born June 25, 1871 in Petershagen , Fürstenthum district , † February 24, 1961 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant clergyman .

In 1901 Priebe became headmaster and pastor in Amora, Portugal . In 1903 he came to Berlin-Friedenau as an assistant preacher , where he was appointed parish administrator in 1904 .

In 1905 Priebe was appointed pastor of the Berlin-Grunewald parish, including the Grunewald Church , a position he was to retain until he retired in 1949. In his more than forty years of activity in Grunewald, Priebe is said to have particularly shaped the community, according to the Wilmersdorf History Working Group. As part of his work as a parish priest, Priebe also gave confirmation classes. The people confirmed by Priebe included Erwin Planck , whom he had also baptized, Hans von Dohnanyi and Dietrich Bonhoeffer .

During the First World War , Priebe also distinguished himself outside his community with a large number of martial brochures that supported the events of the war and justified the war as such. In his sermons Priebe also tried to mobilize the population in favor of the war. For example, he asked his female parishioners to stand up for the cohesion of the home front: »Warrior women! For the victory of our just cause we fight not only with cannons and rifles, but also with the wooden spoon! «

Priebe's marriage to Irmgard Priebe resulted in five children. One of the sons was the agricultural scientist Hermann Priebe .
