Hermann Rönsch

Hermann Rönsch (born April 14, 1821 in Hirschberg (Saale) ; † November 5, 1888 in Zwickau ) was a German theologian and linguist who mainly devoted himself to the scientific investigation of the Vulgate .

Rönsch studied theology at the University of Leipzig from 1840 to 1843 . In 1844 he became a private tutor, in 1847 a boys' teacher in Lobenstein and in 1851 a senior teacher in his Russian birthplace, Hirschberg. In 1856 he was ordained as a deacon and in 1877 as archdeacon in the neighboring Lobenstein. At the age of 66 he retired in 1887 and moved to Zwickau, where he died the following year.

Rönsch stood u. a. until the end of his life with the theology professor Ernst Ranke in Marburg , the younger brother of Leopold von Ranke , whom he had met during a cure in Bad Kissingen , in scientific correspondence.
