Hermann Rudolf Gauss (born March 19, 1835 in Heilbronn , Württemberg , † July 5, 1868 in Basel ) was a Swiss architect .

Life

Hermann Rudolf Gauss attended the Stuttgart trade school and won various prizes while still at school. He emigrated to Basel in 1858, where he was granted citizenship on October 1, 1860. Here he worked first as a technical assistant in the construction office of the Swiss Central Railway , then as an architect. From 1866 to 1868 he was the architect of the Basel synagogue . He could not live to see the day of the inauguration on September 9, 1868.

His son Karl Otto Gauss was the Liestal pastor and historian.
