Hermann Schneider (born December 7, 1896 in Konstanz ; † May 28, 1980 ibid) was a German politician ( BCSV , CDU ).

Life

After attending secondary school, Schneider took part in the First World War as a soldier from 1914 to 1918 . He then went on to do a commercial job, since 1933 as an independent businessman. During the late phase of the Weimar Republic he was a member of the Evangelical People's Service . In the Second World War he was again an active participant in the war from 1939 to 1945.

After the end of the war, Schneider was a member of the provisional Evangelical synod of Baden . He entered the administrative service of the city ​​of Konstanz in 1945 and had been mayor since 1946 ( deputy mayor of Konstanz, Franz Knapp ). In the mayoral election in 1957, he ran against the Catholic CDU candidate Bruno Helmle and the non-denominational SPD candidate Alfred Diesbach , but could not prevail.

Schneider joined the BCSV in 1945, which later became the CDU regional association in South Baden, and he was elected as its deputy chairman. From 1946 to 1947 he was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Baden , from 1947 to 1952 a member of the Baden State Parliament and from 1952 to 1960 a member of the Constituent State Assembly (1952–1953) and a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Parliament (1953–1960).
