Bruno Helmle

Bruno Helmle (* 5. February 1911 in Mannheim ; † 25. February 1996 in Konstanz ) was a German jurist and CDU - local politicians .

Life

Helmle studied law in Berlin and Heidelberg. In 1934 he was in Heidelberg with the work of the lien of the freight forwarder, carrier and bearing holder for Dr. iur. PhD . In 1938 he passed his second state law examination . From 1940 to 1958 he was a government and senior government councilor in the financial administration.

Helmle had been a member of the NSDAP since May 1, 1937, as well as of the National Socialist Motor Corps Motor-SA / NSKK and the National Socialist Legal Guardian Association . In January 2012, a “report on the work of Dr. Bruno Helmle (1911–1996) during the time of National Socialism and in the first post-war years "presented to the University of Konstanz by Lothar Burchardt , Jürgen Klöckler and Wolfgang Seibel . The report comes to the conclusion that Helmle was far more involved in the Nazi system than an initial suspicion from 2010 would suggest. For example, as a tax officer, he was heavily involved in the buying and selling of confiscated Jewish property.

Helmle was Mayor of Meersburg from 1945 to 1946 and Lord Mayor of Konstanz from 1959 to 1980 .

honors and awards

In 1976 Helmle was made an Honorary Senator of the University of Konstanz , and in 1980 he was made an honorary citizen of Konstanz. Both honors were revoked in May 2012 because of his Nazi past. He was a founding member and longstanding board member of the Franco-German Association of Constance - Cercle Franco-Allemand in Constance. On May 3, 1986, Prime Minister Lothar Späth awarded him the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit .
