Hermann Schultes (born September 18, 1953 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician of the ÖVP . From 2005 to March 2019 he was chairman of the Lower Austrian Farmers Association and until December 2018 President of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture. From 2000 to 2017 he was a member of the Austrian National Council . From 2014 to May 2018 Hermann Schultes was President of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture .

Hermann Schultes grew up in a farming family in Zwerndorf an der March. He is married, has three children and a grandfather several times. He graduated from the Higher Agricultural College Francisco Josephinum in Wieselburg , where he graduated with honors in 1972. He has been a farmer on his arable farm in Zwerndorf since 1972 .

His political commitment began with the subject of the occupation of the Hainburger Au in 1984. He founded the Distelverein in 1987 and, in 10 years with thousands of farmers, scientists and nature enthusiasts, laid the foundations for today's ÖPUL, the agricultural environmental program.

From joining the EU in 1995 to 2000, he was a regional chamber councilor in the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture with responsibility for agriculture, nature conservation and ecology and represented Austria's interests in various EU working groups. In September 2000 he succeeded Rudolf Schwarzböck, President of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture, in the National Council . From 2001 to 2005 Hermann Schultes was active as president of the beet farmers and was confirmed as a member of the national council in the elections to the National Council in November 2002 in the Weinviertel constituency. In 2005 he was elected President of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture and Chairman of the Lower Austrian Farmers' Union with over 90%.

In the 2006 National Council elections, Hermann Schultes was again directly elected as a member of the Austrian Parliament in the Weinviertel constituency, with a total of 9,038 preferential votes. The best result of all candidates available for election.

In the early elections to the National Council in 2008, Hermann Schultes was elected to the Austrian Parliament with a total of 9,433 preferential votes from his constituency. The best preferential vote result in the Weinviertel constituency - Austria-wide, this preferential vote result means second place in comparison to all ÖVP candidates at the constituency level who stood in Austria in the 2008 National Council elections. In January 2013 Hermann Schultes was awarded the professional title of Economics Council.

In the 2013 National Council elections, Hermann Schultes was able to achieve 10,138 preferential votes and, with his best result to date, was able to enter the National Council directly.

In February 2014 Hermann Schultes was elected President of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture and in March 2015 he was re-elected as President of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture with around 84%. On February 5, 2018, Josef Moosbrugger was nominated to succeed Hermann Schultes as President of the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture; the election took place on May 15, 2018.

In December 2018 Johannes Schmuckenschlager Schultes succeeded as President of the Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Austria, and in March 2019 Stephan Pernkopf von Schultes took over the chairmanship of the Lower Austrian Farmers' Union.
