Hermann Gustav Wilhelm Christoph Sinell (born May 23, 1862 in Pasewalk , † November 26, 1938 in Sóller ) was a German doctor .

Hermann Sinell was the youngest son of Gustav Sinell (1819–1895) and Bertha, née Hering (1831–1913). Both parents were teachers. He attended the city school in his native Pasewalk and the Joachimsthalsche Gymnasium in Berlin . He then moved to the Lilienthal-Gymnasium Anklam , which he left with the Abitur at Easter 1883. He completed medical studies at universities in Tübingen, Berlin and Greifswald with a doctorate on July 5, 1888. He received his license to practice medicine on April 3, 1889. On August 30, 1892, he married his cousin Friedchen Mohr (* 1861, † 1941) in Stralsund ) whose father was a local merchant.

Sinell, who had worked as an assistant doctor at the Medical University Clinic in Greifswald for a short time after gaining his license to practice medicine, moved to Franzburg in 1891 , where he ran his own practice until 1896. He then worked briefly in Kampen and settled in Hamburg in 1897, where his entry in the medical register for October 15, 1897 is recorded. In the same year he began to work here as a specialist in language work. As a speech therapist in Hamburg, where he was admitted to the state association on November 25, 1910, he was considered a pioneer in his field: he worked as a medical examiner for the high school authorities and in the period before the First World War he was the only state-paid doctor who treated school children. who suffered from language and speech problems.

From April 1, 1905 to October 1, he worked as an external assistant doctor in the polyclinic and in the ENT department of the AK St. Georg . He then headed the ENT department of the AK Barmbek as senior physician until his retirement on June 1, 1928 .

In addition to his work as a doctor, Sinell was also involved in teaching and professional politics. From 1903 he gave scientific lectures at the high school authority. In 1904 he became a member of the medical district association of the inner city. He was a member of the Medical District Association on the left of the Alster and of the Hamburg Medical Association . He was also a member of the board of directors of the Association of Lower Saxony Ear, Nose and Throat Doctors . From December 1, 1917, he represented the first member of the Hamburg Association of Insurance Funds for Doctors in Germany .

Sinell was also a magician. As a founding member, he played a decisive role in the constitution of the Magic Circle of Germany . In his appearances he used the stage name "Soller de Mallorca". He was referring to his holiday home located in Soller on Mallorca . This house is still called "Casa Sinell" today.

Sinell retired in the summer of 1928. He left Hamburg a little later for Mallorca, where he died ten years later.
