Hermann Sitz (born December 11, 1949 in Erfurt , Thuringia ) is a German diplomat and has been consul general in Vancouver since 2010 .

Life

After graduating from high school , Sitz studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg from 1969 to 1973 and graduated in 1973 with the first state examination in law . After the legal preparatory service that followed, he passed the Second State Examination in 1977.

In 1978 he joined the Foreign Service and, after passing the career test for the higher service, between 1980 and 1982 initially worked at the embassy in France as a protocol and political officer, before he was permanent representative of the ambassador in Angola from 1982 to 1985 . After that he was first a consultant in Political Department II of the Foreign Office and then from 1988 to 1991 Ambassador to Sierra Leone .

On his return he was deputy head of unit in the legal department of the Foreign Office until 1995 and then from 1995 to 2000, after an introduction as an exchange officer in the French Foreign Ministry, political advisor at the French embassy . Afterwards, from 2000 to 2003 he was head of division in the legal department of the Foreign Office and until 2007 envoy and permanent representative of the ambassador in Austria , before he was head of the press and public relations department of the embassy in France from 2007 to 2010.

Since July 2010, Hermann Sitz was consul general in Vancouver, successor to Klaus Achenbach , who was retiring . His successor is Dr. Klaus Otto Schmidt.
