Hermann Steinmetz (lawyer)

Hermann Steinmetz (born February 16, 1866 in Göttingen ; † May 11, 1920 in Hanover ) was a German administrative lawyer , most recently President of the State Consistory in Hanover.

Life

Steinmetz, a son of the superintendent Rudolf Steinmetz (1823-1921) in Göttingen, was assigned after completing his law studies in 1887 trainee lawyer at the district court of Iburg and in December 1893 for a trial as legal advisor to the government in Hanover . In May 1894 he was appointed government assessor, and in June 1896 he was assigned to the high presidium of the province of Hanover . In 1901 he was elected second treasurer in the provincial administration, in 1902 he moved to the Prussian Ministry of Culture in Berlin as an unskilled worker , where he later advanced to the lecturing council and in 1906 to the secret senior government council. On April 10, 1912 he was introduced as president of the regional church of Hanover . His main task was the creation of a new church constitution, but he did not live to see it come into force. He died in Hanover in May 1920.
