Otto Mejer

Georg Alexander Otto Mejer (born May 27, 1818 in Zellerfeld , † December 24, 1893 in Hanover ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran canon lawyer.

Life

Otto Mejer was from 1842 private lecturer for constitutional and canon law at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . In 1847 he was appointed associate professor there. In the same year he accepted a call to the University of Königsberg for the chair of canon law. In 1850 he followed a call to the University of Greifswald and in 1851 to the University of Rostock . From 1874 until his retirement in 1883 he was a university professor for canon law in Göttingen and during this time also took on tasks of academic self-administration as prorector . From 1885 to 1893 Otto Mejer was president of the regional consistory of the Hanover regional church .
