Hermann Stockmayer

Hermann Stockmayer (born March 18, 1807 in Stuttgart , † November 28, 1863 ibid) was a German physician and politician .

Life

Born as the son of the landscape secretary and chief finance councilor Friedrich Amandus Stockmayer (1760–1837), Stockmayer studied Protestant theology in Tübingen after passing his state examination as a donor . During his studies in 1825 he became a member of the Germania Tübingen / Feuerreiter fraternity . He was arrested in 1828 for his fraternity activities. Later he studied in Heidelberg medicine and became the Dr. med. PhD . After his studies he worked as a subordinate doctor in Rosenfeld ( Oberamt Sulz ). He stood for election to the Frankfurt National Assembly , but was not elected. From 1848 to 1850 he was a member of the Württemberg state parliament for the constituency 15 Sulz and from 1851 for the constituency 19 Reutlingen Stadt. In 1851 he resigned from civil service for political reasons and became a doctor in Stuttgart. He was the founder and first director of the life insurance and insurance bank Stuttgart.
