Hermann Vogel (pharmacist)

Hermann Rudolf Joachim Vogel (born October 22, 1934 in Munich ) is a German pharmacist and honorary president of the Bavarian Chamber of Pharmacists .

Life

Hermann Vogel was born in 1934 as the second child of the pharmacist Dr. Hermann Vogel (1889–1963) and his wife Hilde (1905–1985, née Schmidt) were born in Munich. He grew up with his older sister Hildegard (* 1932) in a conservative, evangelical family. After high school, university and doctorate in Munich, he founded the Kranich pharmacy in Munich in 1961. After his father's death in 1963, he leased his father's Winthir pharmacy until his mother's death in 1985 . From 1985 to September 30, 1996 he was the owner. On October 1, 1996, he handed over the Winthir pharmacy to his eldest son Hermann Vogel junior and took over the Kranich pharmacy himself again, which was owned by his wife, the pharmacist Renate Vogel, from 1963 to 1996. On December 31, 2004, after more than 40 years, he ended his work as a self-employed pharmacist.

Professional political activity

Since the beginning of his professional activity, Hermann Vogel took on voluntary responsibility within the Bavarian pharmacist profession. Since 1966 he has been a member of the board of the Bavarian Pharmacists' Association. In 1974 he was elected President of the Bavarian Chamber of Pharmacists and was confirmed five times by 1998. In addition, from 1984 to 2000 he held the office of Vice President of the Federal Chamber of Pharmacists. As a result of the privatization of the insurance division of what was then the Bavarian Insurance Chamber (BVK), the Bavarian Pharmacy Supply has also been administered by the Bavarian Supply Chamber since January 1, 1995 ; with Hermann Vogel, a representative of the profession became chairman of the state committee for the first time (previously this was the president of the BVK). Vogel held the office until 1999.

In addition, he is still involved in pharmacy history and the “professional history” committees of pharmacists. From 1990 to 2014 he was chairman of the board of the German Pharmacy Museum Foundation. He initiated the Lesmüller Foundation in 1997 and was Chairman of the Foundation Board until 1998; since then he has been chairman of the board of trustees.

Activity as an author

After retiring from professional policy bodies, Hermann Vogel also worked as an author. In addition to his professional political works Mixtum Compositum and Mixtura Composita , in 2009 he wrote a book about the sculptor and crib maker Sebastian Osterrieder .

Private

Hermann Vogel has been with the pharmacist Renate Vogel, born in 1963. Kaess, married. The marriage resulted in 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
