Hermann Waldow

Hermann August Waldow (born March 6, 1800 in Stolp , Western Pomerania , † September 24, 1885 in Dresden ) was a German pharmacist , scientist and poet .

Waldow was born the son of a pharmacist. He attended the Latin School of Stolp until 1821. One of his classmates was Ewald Rudolf Stier , with whom he became friends. Both were united by their common interest in poetry and theater. Until 1824 Waldow studied medicine and natural sciences in Berlin. He traveled to Switzerland and Northern Italy , among others . After returning to Stolp in 1826, he ran his father's pharmacy, which he sold in 1844. From 1847 he lived in Dresden. He wrote short stories and numerous poems. He was the editor of the Vienna magazine Siona - pocket book of religious poems .
