Hermann von Hillern

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann von Hillern (born August 25, 1817 in Karlsruhe , † December 7, 1882 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was Baden's court and secret archivist and president of the regional court.

Life

He was one of 16 children of Justin von Hillern (1771-1851), who had also served in the same position at court. Hermann von Hillern's last position is described as Grand Ducal Chamberlain, District and Court Court Director and District Court President. The Protestant von Hillern family comes from Nuremberg , parts of which emigrated to the Allgäu - to Isny - in the 16th century , and parts of it moved on to Biberach an der Riss in the following century . In 1739 there was elevation to the nobility .

Hermann von Hillern studied law at the University of Heidelberg and joined the Corps Suevia there. On March 26, 1856 Hillern became a councilor. He married Wilhelmine von Hillern in 1857 , who then gave up her stage career and subsequently became a successful writer. The son born by Wilhelmine soon after the marriage, whose illegitimate conception was scandalous by the standards of the time and should therefore be covered up, died 13 days after the birth. Rumors that he died of deliberate malnutrition led to Hermann von Hillern's forcible transfer to Freiburg im Breisgau . There he became senior public prosecutor in 1864, director of the Freiburg district and court courts in 1868, and in 1879, after the district and court courts were converted into regional courts, president of the Freiburg regional court .

Three daughters came from his marriage to Wilhelmine von Hillern, one of whom Hermine Diemer, born in 1859, also became a writer.

Hermann von Hillern moved in the then very progressive liberal circles and was very close friends with Gottfried von Dusch (1821–1891), Heinrich Goll, Karl Wielandt (1830–1914) and Adolf Kussmaul (1822–1902). From 1870 to 1880 Hermann von Hillern had a seat in the First Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly .
