Hermann von Schmidt (District Administrator)

Hermann Albert Gneomar Franz von Schmidt (born May 22, 1811 in Cammin in Pomerania , † February 24, 1873 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lawyer in local and financial administration, police director and district administrator .

Life

Schmidt was the son of the later Prussian Lieutenant General Karl von Schmidt and his wife Maria Katharina, born. Meyer. He studied law and worked as a speaker since 1837 . In 1844 he was appointed interim district administrator in the Schroda district. In 1848 Schmidt moved to the Konitz district as acting district administrator, where he worked until 1851. In 1851 he moved to the Köslin government as a councilor . In 1856 he was appointed police director of Elbing . In 1861 there was a change to the Opole government and from 1863 Schmidt worked as a secret finance councilor in the Prussian finance ministry. In 1868 he was promoted to the top secret finance council.

Hermann von Schmidt had been married to Agnes Backe (1815–1903) since 1842. His only son was the future Prussian Lieutenant General Hermann von Schmidt (1850-1914).
