Hermann von Stahl

Hermann Stahl , from 1904 by Stahl , (born May 14, 1843 in Fränkisch-Crumbach , † April 6, 1909 in Tübingen ) was a German mathematician .

Hermann Stahl studied at the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he in 1882 Karl Weierstrass and Ernst Kummer with the work on the treatment of the Jacobi inversion problem of Abelian integrals doctorate . In 1882 he became professor in Aachen and from 1885 until his death full professor of mathematics at the University of Tübingen , where he was a colleague of Alexander von Brill , with whom he also worked.

Stahl dealt with the theory of elliptic functions and their generalizations. In 1899 he edited Bernhard Riemann's lectures on elliptical functions at Teubner 's.

In 1904, Hermann Stahl was awarded the Cross of Honor of the Order of the Wuerttemberg Crown , which for him was associated with the nobility .
