Eugene Löffler

Eugen Löffler (born March 24, 1883 in Tübingen ; † May 5, 1979 in Stuttgart ) was a German educator and school politician .

Life

Eugen Löffler, son of the tailor Christian Löffler and Pauline nee Mayer, turned to studying mathematics, physics and chemistry at the universities of Tübingen and Berlin after graduating from high school , which he achieved in 1908 with the academic degree of Dr. rer. nat. completed. Löffler then held high school teaching positions in Ulm and Schwäbisch Hall .

1918 changed Löffler as Councilor in the Württemberg Management Service, 1924 of the Ministerial appointee to lead the school department of the Ministry of Culture entrusted in Stuttgart, which he held until his retirement to retire in 1951, most recently with the service name President. In the meantime he was seconded to the Reich Ministry of the Interior in Berlin for 10 months from 1927 to 1928 and from 1930 to 1931 .

Eugen Löffler, whose special focus was on the German school system abroad, chaired the school abroad committee of the Standing Conference of Education Ministers from 1949 to 1956 and chaired the educational advisory board of the Munich Goethe Institute from 1950 to 1965 . Löffler has received numerous honors for his educational work, including the award of the Great Federal Cross of Merit with a Star , the Goethe Medal in gold and the Knight's Cross of the French Palmes Académiques .

Eugen Löffler, who was married twice, died in Stuttgart in 1979 at the old age of 96.
