Hermannus Koelte († November 9, 1610 ) was a priest and abbot of the Marienfeld monastery .

Life

Hermannus Koelte worked as a waiter at the Marienfeld monastery. After the abbot's seat was vacant from 1600, the Konvent elected Koelte as Abbot of Marienfeld. Koelte is considered one of the monastery's reformers.

According to the reports of the monastery chronicler Hartmann, Koelte had another, but less magnificent, pair of wings attached to the Marienfeld altar . He also had a sermon chair built bearing his name. Next to it was a picture showing the abbot in a black robe kneeling before the cross. Above this picture was:

What the picture shows is God, but it is not God itself.
Recall that and only worship in your spirit what you see in the picture

Below the picture was noted:

It is not himself, but worship Christ
yes, adore him by the sitter.

Hermannus Koelte died on November 9, 1610 after having ruled for seven years and three months. He was buried in the chapter house of the monastery.
