Hermione Galfy
Hermine Galfy , actually Hermine Katzmayr , married Hermine Katzmayr-Godeffroy ( October 25, 1856 - April 2, 1933 in Vienna ) was an opera singer ( soprano ) and singing teacher .
Life
Galfy was prepared for a singing career at the Vienna Conservatory by the famous singing master Mathilde Marchesi . She found her first engagement in 1877 at the Stadttheater in Düsseldorf, came to Königsberg in 1879, joined the Association of the Schwerin Hofbühne in 1880 , where she worked successfully until 1888 and was appointed grand ducal chamber singer in recognition of her services . After the artist appeared mostly as a guest in Bremen, Munich, Stuttgart, Rotterdam, Kassel, Bayreuth (here she gave the world premiere of Parsifal a squire and a magical girl) and Wiesbaden and enjoyed great recognition everywhere, she withdrew in 1894 retired from the stage and took up her residence in Berlin, where she worked as a singing teacher at the Klindworth-Scharwenka Conservatory in Berlin since 1897 .
