Hermine Zaynard b. Schwarzer (born on May 25 or 26, 1913 in Vienna ; executed on November 19, 1943 there ) was an Austrian technical draftswoman and resistance fighter against National Socialism . She was sentenced to death by the Nazi judiciary and beheaded.

Life

Zaynard was a preferred student and attended a school for kindergarten teachers . She joined the Red Falcons , became a functionary in Vienna-Margareten and took part in the International Red Falcon Meeting in Ostend in 1933 . In 1934 she became a member of the Communist Youth Association of Austria (KJVÖ) and quickly became KJVÖ director in Margareten. Between 1934 and 1938 she was arrested three times by the Austro-Fascist regime and was imprisoned for a total of two and a half years. In March 1938 she was released from the women's prison in Wiener Neudorf and, already a member of the KPÖ , was entrusted with the party's contacts in the other federal states. Daytime she worked as a technical illustrator and attended the evening Maturaschule . In 1940 she married Leopold Zaynard , who was also active in the resistance.

On April 29, 1942, Hermine Zaynard was arrested and subsequently charged with Friedrich Hedrich for “preparing for high treason ”. The main accusation against Zaynard was that she had arranged accommodation for Julius Kornweitz , a foreign Communist Party functionary , and established a connection between him and her husband Leopold Zahnrad . On September 30, 1943, she and Hederich were sentenced to death by the People's Court . The execution by the guillotine took place on November 19, 1943 in the Vienna Regional Court .
