Hernán Cristante (born September 16, 1969 in La Plata ) is a former Argentine football goalkeeper and current coach.

Career

Player career

At the age of four, Cristante was already enthusiastic about football and has always loved the role of goalkeeper because it has a very special character.

Cristante began his professional career at his hometown club Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata , for which he played a total of 55 games between 1990 and 1993. He was then signed by the Mexican first division club Deportivo Toluca , where he was under contract until the 2009/10 season , but played several times on loan for Argentine clubs in the 1990s. Between 1998 and 2009 Cristante was the first goalkeeper for Diablos Rojos and won a total of five championship titles with them . This makes him the Deportivo Toluca FC player who has won the most championship titles. He set another record in 2008 when he conceded 772 minutes in the games of the Mexican league .

At the Copa América 1995 he guarded the gate for the Argentine national team .

In 2002 he successfully completed his coaching course and in 2004 he opened a football school called Centro de Formación Deportivo Hernán Cristante , where young talents are trained.

Coaching

After his playing career, Cristante became a coach. He has been responsible for the team at the Mexican club Deportivo Toluca since at least July 2017 .

Private

In addition to his soccer career, Cristante studied business administration at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata .

He married his childhood friend who lived in the same neighborhood. He has three daughters with her: (* 1998), (* 2000) and (* 2003).

In his spare time he plays the saxophone and enjoys reading, especially on scientific, historical and religious subjects.
