The Hernandez Valley is an ice-free high valley in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . Along with the Albert Valley , the Wreath Valley and the Papitashvili Valley, it is one of the four high valleys in the Apocalypse Peaks and also the easternmost of them. To the north it opens across Lake Vashka to the Barwick Valley .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 2005 after the geoscientist and atmospheric researcher Gonzalo J. Hernandez of the University of Washington , who worked for the United States Antarctic Program from 1991 to 2004 at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station .
