Bärfelde manor house

The Bärfelde mansion ( Polish Pałac w Smolnicy) is a mansion in Smolnica ( German Bärfelde ) in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. It is located seven kilometers northwest of Dębno Lubuskie (Neudamm) . Historically, the village was in the Königsberg district in the Neumark , in today's Powiat Gryfiński .

history

The village was founded under German law at the end of the 13th century. From 1337, those of Marwitz are documented as owners. In 1470, Clasu von Marwitz from Bärfelde took the feudal oath to Albrecht, Elector of Brandenburg . From 1713 the Bärfelde estate belonged to the heirs of Colonel Christian von Marwitz. From 1766 a mansion was built. By war contributions for the Napoleonic army and the liberation of the peasants , the economic situation of the goods deteriorated; In 1819 it was sold to Aaron Meyer-Kornecker. In 1832 the property went to Ludwig Wilhelm von Sydow . In 1909 Max Israeli Friedheim bought the estate. After the seizure of power by the National Socialists , the Friedheim's 1938 forced the estate far below value to sell. The last German owner of the property was the entrepreneur Friedrich Flick .

After the invasion of the Red Army at the end of the war in 1945, the mansion initially served as a commandant's office . In the 1950s it was used as a holiday home and from 1965 as an agricultural school. The manor and park are currently owned by the Village Youth Association (Związek Młodzieży Wiejskiej), named after the teacher Ignacy Solarz .

Building

At the site of today's manor house, an existing older mansion was rebuilt in 1866, but destroyed by fire in 1879. From 1881 to 1883 the mansion was rebuilt in the style of the German Renaissance . The building consists of natural and brick. The facade design that has been preserved goes back to the renovation under Max Friedheim. On the longitudinal facades there are pseudo risalites , on the narrow sides there are three-sided risalites , on the east side there are two stair towers, which are crowned by domed roofs .
