The Herrgottsitz (seldom Steiningerberg ) is a mountain in Schönau im Mühlkreis in Upper Austria . With a height of 855  m above sea level. A. it is the highest point in Schönau. The Stoaninger Alm is located on the eastern slope of the mountain .

The Herrgottsitz - the name comes from the striking rock formation on the summit - is located in the lower Mühlviertel in the Mühlviertler Alm region and rises in the municipality of Schönau im Mühlkreis in the Freistadt district . The Stoaninger Alm is located on the eastern slope of the mountain.

Tourist development

The Herrgottsitz is a popular hiking and excursion destination. Several hiking trails and the Johannesweg lead from Schönau up the mountain. There is a summer toboggan run (speed slide track), a ski lift, two ski slopes, an adventure playground and an inn on the Stoaninger Alm .

Summer toboggan run

The 1000 meter long summer toboggan run on the Stoaninger Alm was built in 2003 as Upper Austria's first speed slide . It leads from the valley station at the inn 400 meters to the mountain station using the drag lift. The brackets release themselves there and the 600 meter long descent begins.

Ski lift

There has been a ski lift on the Stoaninger Alm since the 1980s.
