inside view

The church was designed by the Viennese architect Ludwig Schöne and built between 1892 and 1894 on the main square of the city. The three- aisled hall church closes in the west with a three-conch choir , in the east with a widened narthex . In front of the portal stands the 57 meter high main tower, which is flanked by two smaller peaks. The chime there plays a melody from Georg Friedrich Handel's Saul . The wooden carved altars come from Vienna and Tyrol . Most of the picture windows were donated by local families and show Jesus Christ ,Mary , Joseph of Nazareth as well as Hungarian saints such as Stephan I , Gisela of Bavaria , St. Emmerich , Ladislaus I , Elisabeth of Thuringia and Margaret of Hungary .

Furnishing

The medieval and baroque furnishings come from the old St. James' Church. This includes goldsmith's work, but also two goblets that were made in 1421 and 1486. The organ comes from the Rieger brothers , was installed in the church in 1894 and has 21 stops . The coloring of the interior, which was carried out by Otto Kött, is striking. To match the polychrome interior, the roof is also covered with roof tiles of different colors. The last restorations took place in 1936 and 1987.
