The Catholic parish church of the Sacred Heart Church is in the district of Rheydt in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ), Pongser road 59th
The building was built in 1914/17. It was entered under no. P 003 on June 15, 1989 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .
location
The church building is located to the east of the intersection of Pongser Strasse and Preyerstrasse. The Pongser Strasse connects the districts of Morr and Pongs to the city center of Rheydt via Dahlener Strasse. With its distinctive tower, the church is a dominant building that characterizes the street and cityscape.
architecture
The Herz-Jesu-Kirche was built in the years 1914-17 in neo-Romanesque forms. The building is structured horizontally by arched friezes and cornices . The tower is five stories high and tapers. At the nave aisles on both sides with pitch roofs grown. The sacristy is added between the south-facing transept and the choir .
As an important and high-quality example of Rhenish church building for the history of architecture and art, the property including the boundary wall is absolutely worth preserving for urban, local and art historical reasons.
