The Sacred Heart Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in the town of Łobez (Labes) in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland .
history
The late Gothic brick building was erected in 1389 and consecrated as St. Mary's Church of Our Lady. With the introduction of the Reformation in 1537, the church became Protestant. In 1831, the now three-nave church received a neo-Gothic church tower with a field stone base and an octagonal spire . The furnishings came from the 20th century.
The church was badly damaged in March 1945 and rebuilt in 1949. As a place of worship for the new Polish Catholic parish, it was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on October 8, 1949 .
Furnishing
The painted choir windows show John Paul II , the crucifixion of Jesus and Saint Faustina . Under the choir windows there are biblical scenes in sgraffito technique and under the windows of the nave there are frescoes with scenes from the New Testament .
Parish
The Catholic Herz-Jesu parish belongs to the deanery Łobez of the Archdiocese of Stettin-Cammin, which was established in 1972 .
