Soroush Lashkary ( Persian سروش لشکری; * May 10, 1985 in Tehran ; Pseudonym: Hichkas ( Persian هیچکس; "Nobody")) is an Iranian rapper . In 2006 he released his first album Asphaltjungel .

Life

Soroush Lashkary, born on May 10, 1985 in Tehran, known as "Hichkas" ("Nobody") is an Iranian rapper from Tehran. He is one of the pioneers of Persian street rap. He was the founder of the group "021" (021 is the phone code for the city of Tehran), from which many well-known Iranian rappers emerged.

He lived in Germany until he was 2 years old and has five siblings. His parents come from the Iranian city of Qazvin and moved to Vanak (a district of Tehran). He studied English but was de-registered because of his cultural views and money problems.

He started to cover English songs but was unsuccessful and began to write his own Persian lyrics about the social problems of the young generation in Iran. He chose his name “Hichkas” (“Nobody”) out of humility because he doesn't want to be special to other people.

In 2003 he started his own group “021” with the motto “Tehran forever” and was active there until 2007.

The album "Asphaltjungel" (2006; Persian جنگل اسفالت) was the first album of "021". It was a freestyle rap album that focused on the social issues.

He tried to officially release the album in Iran, but the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Leadership rejected it due to its western and non-Islamic orientation. His art has been labeled vulgar. He then released it as an underground album for download on the Internet. This resulted in a judicial admonition. Despite the court order, he continued to make music and the next album with "021" was "Dolchtanz" (2007; Persian رقص قمه) released.

As a result, they were found guilty of distributing unauthorized music. For this he had to deposit 5,000,000 Toman (50,000,000 Iranian Rial) bail and was no longer allowed to distribute his music. Immediately afterwards he released the single "I don't want to go to jail, why are you bumping into me" (2008; Persian «من زندان نمی‌خوام برم ، بگو چرا داری منو هل می‌دی؟») released.

In the meantime he also worked as an actor, in the film “ Persian Cats Nobody Knows ”, which won the Special Jury Prize in the “ Un Certain Regard ” category at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival . In Germany, the film was broadcast on 3sat on June 15, 2011 in the original with German subtitles. In the film he sings the song "difference" ( Persian اختلاف).

After the 2009 election in Iran, he had to leave the country because of his comments on the subject and went to London.

In an interview with Manoto TV, he said that the purpose of emigrating was to develop and improve Persian rap and that he would return when his job was done.

In an interview with BBC Fars, he pretends not to be interested in politics and claims that the Islamic revolution was a good thing, but from a previous generation that does not respond to the current needs of the younger generation. Hichkas had also temporarily set up its own website where young musicians could upload their own music and rate that of other musicians. The site is currently no longer available.
