Hieronymus Christoph von Pöllnitz (* 1620 ; † February 18, 1697 ) was an officer and civil servant in the ore monastery of Mainz and in the monastery of Bamberg .

Life

Von Pöllnitz was the third son of the Electoral Saxon Minister Hans Georg von Pöllnitz and his wife Anna Petronella von Heil. In contrast to his Protestant father, Hieronymus Christoph von Pöllnitz was a Catholic. In 1652 he bought the rule of Aschbach ( Aschbach (Schlüsselfeld) ) from his brothers Gerhard Bernhard and Johann Ernst . From 1677 he had Aschbach Castle built as a residence. In 1670 he married the Catholic Anna Katharina von Kerpen († 1690). In 1670 he was raised to the baron status by Emperor Leopold I.

He entered the service of Mainz and Bamberg and became a privy councilor of both principalities and imperial, Bamberg and Mainz major general . From 1652 to 1670 he was Bamberg's chief chamberlain and then commander of Forchheim Fortress until his death . Later he was also senior officer in the Burgebrach office . In 1672 he was also Obermarschall Bamberg.
