Hieronymus Kamphövener (born January 27, 1757 in Klixbüll , † August 3, 1824 in Schleswig ) was an administrative lawyer from Schleswig in the Danish service.

Life

Hieronymus Kamphövener was the son of the pastor at the St. Nicholas Church in Klixbüll Bernhard Caspar Kamphövener († 1776). He studied law at the University of Kiel and in 1780/1781 at the University of Göttingen . His student record book has come down to us from his student days . After graduating, he entered the Danish administrative service and became royal Danish chamber secretary at the Rent Chamber in Copenhagen and auditor of the Danish class lottery . In 1795 Kämphövener returned to the Duchy of Schleswig and in Hütten , where he also took up residence, he was the administrator of the Hütten office and Harde guardian of the Hüttener Harde .

He died in Schleswig in 1824 as a judicial councilor and administrator of the Hütten office and legal advisor of the Rögen estate in Gammelby .

In addition to his own writings, with which he documented, among other things, the peasant liberation and abolition of serfdom in Schleswig-Holstein initiated by Georg Christian Oeder in the form of an accountability report, he also emerged as a translator of Johan Zoëga's writings from Danish into German.

Kamphövener was a cousin of Christian Hieronymus Esmarch .
