Hieronymus von Dieskau (The Renewing One)

Hieronymus von Dieskau (* 1591 ; † November 16, 1641 ) was a German manor owner , member of the Fruit Bringing Society and knight of the Order of St. John . According to older literature, he is also said to have been Commander of the Kommende Süpplingenburg .

Life

Hieronymus was a member of the Saxon noble family von Dieskau , a son of the Kurbrandenburg Privy Councilor and Envoy Hieronymus von Dieskau (1565-1625) and Anna Pflug from the house of Kottwitz († 1635). His parents sent him to the University of Leipzig , where he matriculated in 1609. In contrast to his father, he was also referred to as Hieronymus von Dieskau the Younger during his lifetime .

After the death of his wealthy father in July 1625, he and his brothers inherited the paternal estates in the Electorate of Brandenburg and the Electorate of Saxony . In the course of an inheritance he received the two manors Queis and Benndorf from his father's inheritance .

In 1632 Hieronymus von Dieskau became a member of the Fruit Bringing Society. He was named The Renewing One .

On October 23, 1620 he signed a contract with his future wife Agnes Schieck from the house of Reinsdorf (1613–1641), which his father and the prospective mother-in-law confirmed, since the bride's father, Wolf Dietrich Schieck zu Reinsdorf, was already there had passed away. The three sons Hans Wolf, Hieronymus Dietrich (1629–1682) and Gustav Carl von Dieskau, among others, were born out of the marriage. They were not of age when the father died in autumn 1641.
