Highland is a German dance / hip-hop band. In their music they use Italian and occasionally Latin phrases , combined with hip-hop and English rap .

Career

The band consists of the singer Nicole Heiland, who also gives the band its name phonetically , the rapper Lady Scar and the rapper Dean Burke . Mike Michaels, Mark "MM" Dollar and Mark Tabak, who also produce other artists and bands such as Music Instructor , The Boyz and Ayman , wrote the Highland songs with Hardy Krech, Mark Nissen and Toni Berardi. Highland was produced by Hardy Krech and Mark Nissen ( Elephant Music ), co-produced by Triple M in collaboration with Andreas Pohle. Dean Burke, like Elephant Music, worked with Triple M before Highland (as part of the Music Instructor and Lunatics group ). Highland only existed as a band until 2002. The first Highland single , Bella Stella , was released in 1999 with great success. In 2000 they released the album of the same name with three other singles, Se Tu Vuoi , Solo Tu and Veni Vidi Vici . All these songs are structured according to the same scheme: Italian singing mixed with rap and electronic music.

In 2001 Highland released the single Magic Fortuna , which is based on O Fortuna , part of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana . In contrast to the Bella Stella album , Nicole Heiland sang the song alone and only in Latin. Nicole Heiland was then a member of the band Heiland. The last appearance of this formation was in 2006, the year the successful single Schuld was released . In 2008 Highland made a comeback with the album Dimmi Perché . The band now only includes Nicole Heiland and Dean Burke, Lady Scar no longer. The album was composed and produced by Hardy Krech and Mark Nissen. As with the earlier albums, Dean Burke and Antonio Berardi were involved as lyricists.
