Hilda Tellioğlu (born September 21, 1967 in Istanbul ) is an Austrian computer scientist with Armenian roots and a professor at the Vienna University of Technology .

Life

Hilda Tellioğlu attended St. George's College in Istanbul. She graduated in 1986 and received a scholarship to study in Austria. She studied at the Technical University of Vienna and completed her training in 1990 (below the minimum study period) with a Dipl.-Ing. of Computer Science. She received her PhD from the same university in 1995. She was a research assistant at Hewlett-Packard in Vienna, SGS Environment Kendal in Great Britain and at the University of Roskilde and Risø Research Center in Denmark. She was visiting scholar at IBM Germany in Heidelberg and Darmstadt in 1989, senior lecturer at the Summer University for Women in Computer Science at the University of Bremen in 1998 and visiting professor at the University of Klagenfurt from 2008 to 2010.

Before completing her doctorate, Tellioğlu worked as a research assistant and lecturer at the Vienna University of Technology. Between 1995 and 2007 she was an assistant professor. She then took on the post of Vice Dean of Studies and, in 2012, Dean of Studies for Business Informatics . Tellioğlu has been Dean of Studies for Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science at Vienna University of Technology since 2016. Since 2016 she has been the director of the Center for Informatics and Society (C! S). Since 2019 she has been the scientific director of the Center for Technology and Society (CTS) at TU Wien.

She is married and has one child.

  • ReHABITAT-ImmoCHECK +: Tools for the representation of the development potential and for the evaluation of innovatively usable single-family houses
  • Smokeless: A project to make women who smoke during their pregnancy aware of the consequences of smoking and to help them quit.
  • TOPIC: A platform to promote the multimodal exchange of information between relatives of people in need of care and professional carers in order to support the former in their daily tasks.
