Hilda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hilde or Hilda is a female given name. It comes from the old high German hiltja (fight). In Germanic personal names , which were consistently two-part, it occurs as the first or second component: Hildegard , Hil (d) trud; Brunhild , Krimhild, Gerhild etc. It was not until the 19th and 20th centuries that the short and pet forms became independent first names.

Hilde is also a legendary figure, e.g. B. in the Kudrun . There she is the wife of Hetels, the king of Hegelingen.
