Hildegard Burri-Bayer (born October 2, 1958 in Düsseldorf ) is a German writer . She writes historical novels .

Life

Hildegard Burri-Bayer trained as a lecturer in museum education and became the director of a private city museum for excavations. From 1996 to 2006 she ran the museum restaurant “Historia”, which was designed according to the motto “Life what the ancient Romans loved”. She was the first chairman of the non-profit support group Historia e. V., who tried through applied experimental archeology to convey enthusiasm for history and commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage .

Hildegard Burri-Bayer is married and has five grown children.

Nebra Sky Disc

In July 1999, two were looters on the Mittelberg the Sky Disc of Nebra discovered and offered for sale. The relic changed hands several times on the black market. When Hildegard Burri-Bayer found out about the find, she established contact between an acquaintance and an intermediary. In 2003 she was found guilty of receiving stolen goods together with her co-accused acquaintance and sentenced to a suspended sentence of 12 months in prison and 150 hours of community service. The judgment was confirmed in the appeal hearing in 2005. The payment of the legal costs of 100,000 € also meant the end for the restaurant.

The find inspired her to write her first novel The Star Disc .
