Hilgenreith is a district of the municipality of Innernzell in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau .

location

Hilgenreith is about a kilometer west of Innernzell on the road from Hengersberg to Schönberg .

history

The row village Hiltguntraeut belonged together with neighboring villages to the Hochstift Passau since 1207 . In 1308, Bishop Bernhard and other places existed as fiefs to the nobleman Christian von Urleinsberg and his son. In 1390 the lent goods were again in the hands of the bishopric.

In 1447 Paul Wenger zu Rammelsberg sold his estate at Hilkersraeut to Kaspar the Puchberger zum Wildenstein. Together with the surrounding villages it formed the Hofmark Haimbguet , the Haingüter. In 1619, in a description of the Hofmark, taverns , brewery, smithy, bathhouse, stick and iron in the village were mentioned, which shows that court was also held here.

Maps from 1829 and around 1840 show the regular arrangement of the hallway and property of Hilgenreith, as it was called back then. The tubs crossed and were cultivated in three fields under Flurzwang until the end of the 19th century . At the western entrance to the 37.7 hectare complex comprised of the host property, the same time the beer-brewing, butchers and bakers was justice exercised. This was followed by 11 farms with property sizes between 18.8 ha and 22.6 ha and a forge with 1.1 ha on the eastern edge of the village. The area of the commons was about 7 hectares. Around 1860 the village of Hilgenreith had 118 inhabitants, the municipality of the same name, to which the villages of Haunstein, Kniereit and Schlag also belonged, had 294 inhabitants.

In 1905 the place burned down and was then restored as a street village using massive stone construction . In 1945 or 1946, the Hilgenreith community was dissolved and incorporated into Innernzell and Schöfweg . It is still entered on maps from the middle of the 20th century as Hilgenreuth and Hilgenreit . In 1970 it had 225 inhabitants.
