Hilmar Guenther Moore (born July 28, 1920 in San Antonio , Texas , † December 4, 2012 in Richmond , Texas) was an American farmer and the longest serving mayor in the United States.

Career

Moore attended Richmond High School until 1938 and then the University of Texas . Moore served in the army from 1942 to 1946. Back in his homeland, he decided to work as a cattle breeder. On September 22, 1949, he was elected Mayor of Richmond. Until his death he was re-elected 32 times. At 63 years and 73 days, he was the longest-serving mayor in the United States.
