Hilton Forrest Deakin

Hilton Forrest Deakin (born November 13, 1932 in Seymour ) is auxiliary bishop emeritus in Melbourne .

Life

The Coadjutor Archbishop of Melbourne, Justin Daniel Simonds , ordained him a priest on July 27, 1958 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Melbourne . Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Brisbane and titular bishop of Murthlacum on December 30, 1992 .

The Archbishop of Melbourne Thomas Francis Little ordained him bishop on March 3 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were Joseph Peter O'Connell , Auxiliary Bishop in Melbourne, and Eric Gerard Perkins , Auxiliary Bishop in Melbourne.

On November 13, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.

In 2012 Deakin received the Ordem de Timor-Leste and the Ordem Dom Martinho Lopes .
