The sky ladder is a 774.3 m above sea level. NHN high mountain near Cursdorf in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district . The mountain is therefore only slightly lower than the Kirchberg (784.2 m) not far to the northeast .
The summit of the Himmelsleiter is located roughly in the middle between Cursdorf in the northwest and Deesbach in the east.
