Normal way from Kals-Matreier-Törl-Haus to Dürrenfeld and over the southwest flank to the summit ridge ( II )

The rear Kendlspitze is 3080  m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Granatspitz group in East Tyrol . The mountain summit was first climbed on July 14, 1927 by R. Gerin and G. Hecht over the southwest flank and the north ridge.

location

The Hintere Kendlspitze is located in the Gradötzkamm in the extreme south of the Granatspitz Group in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park in the north of the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol or the Lienz district. It is located between the Vorderen Kendlspitze ( 3085  m above sea level ) in the south and the Stellachwand ( 3060  m above sea level ) in the north, with the Graue Scharte ( 2971  m above sea level ) lying between the Stellachwand and the Hinterer Kendlspitze . To the west of the Kendlspitze lies the Dürrenfeld, to the east the Kendlkar. The closest valley is the Kalser Dorfertal to the west, and the headwaters of the Bretterwandbach creek to the southeast .

Promotion opportunities

The normal route to the Hintere Kendlspitze leads from the Kals-Matreier-Törl-Haus west of the Blauspitze and the Brunnerkogel to the Dürrenfeld. Then the ascent follows pathless over the southwest flank with rocky zones on a narrow summit ridge, on which you reach the summit point after a small notch ( II ). With the ascent from the Grauer Scharte over the north ridge ( II ) or the ridge transition over the south ridge to the Vorderen Kendlspitze ( II ), there are other options in addition to the normal route. The descent can also take place via the northeast face ( III ).
